The city is divided into four departments: Nakhon Ping, Srivijaya, Mengrai and Kavila. The first three Situated on the west bank, while Kavila located on the eastern end of the Ping River. The city has in recent years been constantly evolving, but the city is undeniably the most culturally significant city in northern Thailand.
The city is surrounded by beautiful nature and it is advisable to take out and look at the many mountains, rivers and lakes - and not least the beautiful temples, situated around the city.
Long before tourists began to flock to the city, it was a trading mecca for people all over Northern Thailand and this is reflected today in the many markets that are to find in the city.
